Privacy notice
This site collects close to nothing, so this notice is mostly a list of things that do not happen. The parts with any practical consequence are the server log and the three resources loaded from other hosts.
The short version
This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no tracking pixel, hosts no advertising and has no login, no comment form and no newsletter. There is nothing to opt into and nothing to opt out of. If you read a page and close it, no record of you exists here beyond an ordinary server log line.
What the server records
Like any web server, the host that serves these pages writes a log entry for each request. A typical entry contains the requesting IP address, the time, the path requested, the response status, the referring page if the browser sent one, and the user agent string. These entries are produced by the web server software, not by anything written into these pages.
They are used for two things only: keeping the site running, and understanding whether an outbound link has broken. They are not combined with anything else, not sold, not shared with advertisers and not used to build a profile of any reader.
Cookies
None are set by this site. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to, and adding a banner that asks permission for something we do not do would be theatre.
Resources loaded from other hosts
Three things are loaded from external hosts, and honesty requires listing them, because a request to another host is visible to that host.
- A stylesheet and a small script from a public content delivery network, used for the grid and the mobile navigation panel.
- Two font families and a monospace face from a public font service.
- Nothing else. No analytics, no tag manager, no social embed, no video, no advertising and no session recording of any kind.
When your browser fetches those files, the host serving them can see your IP address and user agent, as it can for any site that loads a shared resource. We receive nothing back from that exchange and hold no data from it.
If you write to the desk, the message and your address sit in a mailbox until the exchange is finished, and correspondence that has been dealt with is deleted periodically. Your address is never added to any list, because there is no list. Nothing you send is published without asking first.
Links to other sites
Some pages link outward, to protocol documentation, to a block explorer, to a venue, and in a few places to a commercial tool that is relevant to what the paragraph is discussing. Once you follow any of those links you are on somebody else site, under their policy, and this notice stops applying at the moment the link is clicked.
We do not add tracking parameters to outbound links, do not route them through a redirector and do not shorten them. A link on this site points directly at the address shown.
Children
This site is written for adults reading about public market data and is not directed at children. It knowingly collects nothing from anyone of any age, which is the same statement as everywhere else on this page.
Your rights, practically
Data protection law gives readers rights of access, correction and erasure. Practically, this site holds almost nothing that could be the subject of such a request: server log lines, and any email you chose to send. A request about either can be sent to the desk address and will be answered. Where a hosting provider retains logs under its own schedule, that retention is theirs and outside our control, and we would rather write that plainly than imply a control we do not have.
Changes
If this notice changes, the change will be visible on this page. Given that the site collects nothing, the most likely change is the addition of something to the list of externally loaded resources, and that list is kept accurate deliberately, because it is the only part of this page with any practical consequence.
